AXIA Time Named Official Timepiece of the College Football Playoff for Second Consecutive Year
Brand to release ultra-limited, Swiss Made CFP and team-specific designs with exclusive pre-order benefits WARREN, N.J., Dec. 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- AXIA Time (AXIA), creator of heirloom-quality, Swiss Made timepieces that commemorate defining achievements, today announced that it will once again serve as the Official Timepiece of the College Football Playoff (CFP). This marks the brand's second straight year in the role, reaffirming a partnership rooted in commemorating the pinnacle moments of the college football experience. AXIA Time will design and distribute limited-edition CFP-branded watches, along with exclusive, ultra-custom watches for each of the 12 teams selected for the 2025-26 College Football Playoff. AXIA Time will release two bespoke designs from its ARGOS and LYTHOS lines for each of the 12 playoff teams. All watches will feature both the CFP and team logos, team colorways, and many "easter eggs" throughout - including the name of each of the 12 teams engraved on the rehaut (the inner rim of the case, just above the dial). Given the ultra-custom nature of these designs, shipping will begin in mid-January.   "At AXIA Time, we believe the most meaningful moments in life aren't just about the day they happen; they're about the journey that led there," said John Kanaras, founder and CEO of AXIA Time. "Partnering with the College Football Playoff, which represents the pinnacle of college football excellence, allows us to honor each team's season of grit, pride, and belief. Our Official Timepieces give fans a way to carry that meaning with them, every day, from now on." "The College Football Playoff is built on moments of dedication, tradition, and pride, and AXIA Time captures that spirit beautifully," said Ryan Allen Hall, Senior Director of Public Events and Sponsorships at the College Football Playoff. "We're excited to once again partner with AXIA to offer these limited-edition watches to fans and teams, giving them a meaningful way to commemorate a season's journey and the achievement of reaching the playoff stage." This year's AXIA Time launch includes an expanded pre-order program. Fans can secure their team watch on December 8, one day after the 12-team College Football Playoff teams are announced. Customers who place their orders by December 14 will also receive a complimentary CFP-branded quilted vest from Horn Legend, valued at $180, delivered in time for holiday gift giving, and the watches will ship in early January. Additionally, customers whose team goes on to win the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship can also upgrade their purchases to the exclusive National Champions design at no additional cost. Finally, any customer who pre orders any 2025-26 CFP watch, whether the CFP-exclusive design or one of the team-specific designs, will be automatically entered into the AXIA Time College Football Playoff National Championship Weekend Sweepstakes. The prize consists of two tickets to the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, along with a $1,000 gift card and a hotel reservation at a host hotel (the cost of the hotel stay will be borne by the winner). The drawing will take place on January 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET on AXIA's Instagram Live channel. No purchase is necessary to enter, and full rules are available on axiatime.com. About the College Football PlayoffThe College Football Playoff (CFP) is the event that crowns the national champion in college football. The CFP selection committee ranks the top 25 teams at the end of the regular season. The teams ranked Nos. 5-12 will play in the CFP First Round, with the higher seeds hosting the lower seeds. About AXIA TimeAXIA Time, established in 2018, creates custom Swiss Made timepieces that commemorate life's greatest achievements. AXIA Time was born out of founder John Kanaras' love of horology and his alma mater. After helping to lead the 1988 Penn Quakers to an Ivy League Championship, the university gifted each player a championship watch. For John, the watch held great sentimental value but didn't match the significance of his journey. For 30 years, he looked for a watch of high quality and meaningful design to meet that moment. When he couldn't find what he was looking for, he built it himself. AXIA (ahk-SEE-ah) means "value" or "worth" in Greek. AXIA TIME CELEBRATES THE 12-TEAM COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF WITH COMMEMORATIVE, ULTRA-CUSTOM TIMEPIECES
With the CFP field unveiled, college football fans can now secure their limited-edition, heirloom-quality watches at axiatime.com   WARREN, N.J., December 10, 2024 – AXIA Time, creator of ultra-custom Swiss Made timepieces, is celebrating this year’s College Football Playoff (CFP) by producing a limited number of watches commemorating the 12 teams in contention for the national championship.   College football fans can now purchase their favorite timepieces at axiatime.com. The collection includes two officially licensed designs — the Argos and the Lythos — for each school selected to compete in College Football Playoff. AXIA Time is only producing 200 timepieces per playoff team, split evenly between the two designs.   AXIA Time, the Official Timepiece of the College Football Playoff, unveiled designs for the top CFP hopefuls last month, allowing fans to reserve their limited-edition watches early. Confidence ran highest at Indiana University, Boise State and the University of Texas, whose watches received the most reservations out of all schools still in the hunt.      “Quality timepieces and great seasons are both something to wear proudly. Die-hard college football fans now have an heirloom made to meet the moment,” said AXIA Time founder John Kanaras. “We’re going to remember this dramatic and unpredictable season for decades to come. The stories of this year’s playoff field will be told and retold as fans pass down their AXIA Time watches through the generations. That’s exactly why we’re in this business.”   Each design has been approved by its respective school, featuring the team’s logo at 12 o’clock — premium space typically used for the watchmaker’s insignia — and eye-popping colorways. The CFP wordmark appears on the bottom half of the dial.   The Argos is powered by Sellita's SW200 Elabore grade movement, which boasts a power reserve of 38 hours, is water resistant to 300 meters, and features steel hands and applied indexes filled with X1 Super-Luminova — the highest performing grade of photoluminescent material used in watchmaking today. The Argos comes on a solid three-link 316L stainless steel bracelet with a micro-adjustable buckle and DLC coating. Premium touches include an etched repeating pattern with the CFP logo, "ROAD 2 ATLANTA" on the chapter ring, and custom engraving up to 50 characters.   The Lythos is crafted from premium components and powered by a Swiss Ronda 715 quartz movement with a 10-year battery. It comes in a 316L stainless steel case and bracelet — both with DLC coating.  The top glass is sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and is water resistant to 100 meters.  The dial of the Lythos steals the show with a sunray finish and etched repeating pattern featuring the CFP logo and a colorway specific to each school.         In addition to the fan watches, AXIA Time has also created an Argos timepiece exclusively for the players competing in the College Football Playoff. The players' style, which is not available to the general public, features a unique sunray dial, a sapphire crystal caseback, the CFP logo at 12 o’clock, and a subtle yet striking etched football pattern that radiates out from the dial's center.   Also, as the Official Timepiece of the Heisman Trophy, Official Timepiece of the prestigious Tewaaraton Awards for college lacrosse, and the Official Timepiece of the Naismith Award for college basketball, AXIA Time has scored with these elite athletes by creating personalized timepieces of exceptional quality to commemorate life's biggest achievements and most unforgettable moments.   See the CFP 2024-25 Timepiece collection to learn more about each design, including pricing, specifications and expected delivery details.   About AXIA Time AXIA Time, established in 2018, creates custom Swiss Made automatic timepieces that commemorate life's greatest achievements. AXIA Time was born out of founder John Kanaras' love of horology, and his alma mater. To ensure stylish comfort and the ease of use necessary for daily wear, the watch is presented on an American-made, black square-scale alligator strap with contrast stitching which closes via a bronze-plated deployant buckle embellished with the Heisman logo. Reminiscent of the trophy base, the Heisman DIASIMOS by AXIA Time comes in a custom, solid walnut display box.   "We are excited to include AXIA Time among our family of sponsors as the Official Timepiece of the Heisman Trophy," stated Michael Comerford, President of the Heisman Trophy Trust.  "We are grateful to AXIA Time and its founder, John Kanaras, for their focus on honoring all of our finalists and honorees AXIA’s exquisite timepieces and ultra-custom designs offer a special way for our finalists and honorees to commemorate this unforgettable time in their lives." “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Heisman Trophy Trust to celebrate all of their honorees,” said AXIA Time founder John Kanaras. “As with the Tewaaraton and Naismith Awards, AXIA Time believes that being named a finalist is an incredible achievement that deserves to be celebrated. We hope that our timepieces will quickly become family heirlooms that will be cherished by each athlete." The Ultimate Gift Guide for the College Football Playoff Super Fan in Your Life with AXIA Time
The Ultimate Gift Guide for the College Football Playoff Super Fan in Your Life with AXIA Time
Some gifts last a season, and others last a lifetime. When it comes to celebrating the passion, pride, and pure chaos that define college football, few brands understand the emotional stakes quite like AXIA Time. In addition to being the Official Timepiece of the Heisman Trophy for its second year, they also return this year as the Official Timepiece of the College Football Playoff. AXIA continues to do what it does best: transform season-defining triumphs into Swiss-made timepieces worthy of the journey that led there. For the super fan in your life, the one who can recite bowl history by heart and still gets misty replaying their favorite fourth-quarter comeback, this year’s College Football Playoff collection lands right on time. Founded in 2018 by John Kanaras, AXIA Time was born from a deeply personal idea: that milestone moments deserve craftsmanship equal to the meaning we attach to them. After winning an Ivy League championship with Penn and receiving a commemorative team watch that didn’t quite match the magnitude of the achievement, Kanaras spent decades searching for a piece that could. Eventually, he decided to build it himself. Today, AXIA (Greek for “value” or “worth”) produces Swiss Made watches that honor life’s biggest victories—partnering not only with the College Football Playoff, but also the Heisman Trophy, the Naismith Awards, the Tewaaraton Award, and more than 50 universities nationwide. This year, AXIA is expanding its CFP program in a way that’s tailor-made for collectors, die-hard alumni, and anyone whose calendar revolves around fall Saturdays. The brand will create both quartz and automatic Swiss-made watches for each of the 12 teams selected for the 2025–26 College Football Playoff. Every school will receive two bespoke designs—one from the Argos line and one from the Lythos line, each featuring team colorways, official logos, and a host of thoughtful “easter eggs,” including all 12 playoff teams engraved on the rehaut. There will be 50 pieces of each model for a total of 100 pieces per school. These aren’t merely team-colored trinkets; they’re well-engineered keepsakes that chronicle a season’s grit, pride, and improbable climbs up the rankings. Consider this your early rundown of why AXIA’s CFP collection may just be the ultimate holiday gift for the college football super fan, whether they’re cheering from the stands, hosting a bowl-season watch party, or pacing the living room as the fourth quarter clock winds down. In keeping with their ethos to deliver a top-notch customer experience, anyone who pre-orders a 2025–26 CFP watch, whether it’s the CFP-exclusive model or a team-specific design—is automatically entered into the AXIA Time College Football Playoff National Championship Weekend Sweepstakes. The winner will receive two tickets to the 2026 National Championship and join Team AXIA at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, plus a $1,000 gift card and a reservation at an official host hotel. The drawing will be held on January 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET on AXIA’s Instagram Live. No purchase is necessary to enter, and full details can be found on axiatime.com. When your sports-loving friend inevitably asks which team-themed watches are actually worth a look, AXIA Time stands out for clear, tangible reasons. The brand produces officially licensed, Swiss-made designs for every College Football Playoff team and many more official athletic organizations, offers both quartz and automatic options, and incorporates thoughtful details like team colorways, official logos, and custom engravings. But beyond that, their aim is to create  timepieces built to commemorate specific moments of achievement or fandom—rather than serve as generic fan merchandise—making them a solid consideration for anyone seeking a team-themed watch with a higher level of craftsmanship and purpose behind it.

AXIA Time reveals partnership with renowned lacrosse player Kyle Harrison
Kyle Harrison, watch enthusiast and 9-time Major League Lacrosse all-star, signs on to help make AXIA Time a household name. WARREN, N.J., Jan. 16, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- AXIA Time, maker of Swiss made automatic watches that are modern takes on vintage-classic styles, selects Kyle Harrison as the brand's first celebrity ambassador. By joining forces with Harrison, storied former professional lacrosse athlete with a love for watches, AXIA Time seeks to help raise awareness of its ultra-customization options as an alternative or addition to rings for winning teams and major triumphs.Learn about custom timepieces at axiatime.com. Harrison is widely considered one of the greatest lacrosse players of all time. From his college career at Johns Hopkins, where he dominated and led the undefeated 2005 Blue Jays to a national championship win (and won the Tewaaraton), to his professional career as a 9-time all-star, 12-time team captain, winner of the 2017 Major League Lacrosse Championship, Harrison's legacy was further cemented last week when he was inducted into the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame. But the best part about Kyle Harrison, from AXIA Time founder John Kanaras' perspective, is he is as authentic, committed, and driven off the field as he was on it. "As I'm getting to know Kyle," says Kanaras, "I've learned he's an even better human being than a lacrosse player. And he's also a real family man. He's a devoted son, husband, and father. His dad was a lacrosse player and a member of the 10 Bears at Morgan State, and Kyle wore the same number as his dad to honor him, and then took it to a whole new level. He's an incredible ambassador for the sport, committed to increasing its inclusivity, and he's a youth role model with his mentorship of up-and-coming players." Authenticity and character, two traits that Harrison displays in spades, are incredibly important to the AXIA Time brand, where Kanaras takes "putting the customer experience first" to new levels. "AXIA Time goes above and beyond in every aspect. The entire journey was great and made for a very special experience." – customer, Mark T. Ultra-Custom Timepieces for Some of Life's Greatest Achievements All AXIA Timepieces are designed in the US and handcrafted in Switzerland by master watchmakers. What sets AXIA Time apart from other watch companies is the ultra-custom designs it makes to celebrate major triumphs and achievements. To date, AXIA Time has created commemorative timepieces for several championship teams and individual awards, such as college lacrosse and football division and national championship teams, the College Football Playoffs, Tewaaraton, Lacrosse All American, National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and the Naismith, just to name a few. Kyle Harrison first became intrigued with AXIA Time after noticing the brand at major lacrosse events, like the Tewaaraton and USA Lacrosse. "I met John multiple times before we got to this place. As I got to understand his story, and as a fellow entrepreneur and someone who's a grinder, it just came together. I gravitate to people who are the same. And John is a worker. He has put his heart and soul into building this business. And when you hear the story of how he's done it firsthand from him, you can't help but want to be a part of it." Harrison sparked right to the idea of a commemorative timepiece. "When I think about AXIA Time and the brand," he says, "I think about my teammates, and the memorable things that happened in my life. You think about winning a championship. You think about graduating. You think about being a senior and moving on. All these milestones you hit throughout your career. Typically, you get a ring, sometimes you get a plaque, 2 things you really aren't going to use much. But a watch to commemorate that moment and bring those memories back? You'll wear this watch." As part of his courtship of Harrison, Kanaras gifted him a Tewaaraton timepiece. "What's so cool about this," says Harrison, is you have the Tewaaraton logo right where the AXIA one would be. But then you take it a step further, and I won the Tewaaraton back in 2005, so I got my name in here, and I got a 2005 Tewaaraton award winner watch. That's cool. There's one of these, and it's right here." "I've always loved watches. And these watches are a badge of honor, something you'll be proud of, because you and your team, the only people who will have that specific watch, are people who won that specific championship. And I think that's what makes it special."  – Kyle Harrison Ever since seeing Kyle Harrison wearing a vintage Rolex on the cover of Inside Lacrosse back in 2018 when he launched AXIA Time, John Kanaras has been interested in exploring a partnership with Kyle. "Someone who has a watch like that definitely has a story to tell about it (it was a birthday gift from his wife). At that moment, I knew I had to work with him someday. I couldn't be more thrilled that someday is today." How AXIA built a business working with FIFA and the American Secret Service
How AXIA built a business working with FIFA and the American Secret Service
Read the original article in WatchPro. It takes a certain amount of confidence to launch a Swiss-made mechanical watch company in your late 50s. It takes rather more to persuade FIFA to let you produce watches for the World Cup just a couple of years after making it your full-time job. John Kanaras, founder and CEO of Axia Time, has managed both. The former pharmaceutical executive started the company as a passion project in 2018, inspired by a disappointing watch he received after his university lacrosse team won a championship. Three decades later, the memory of that underwhelming commemorative piece became the foundation for a business built around making watches worthy of significant moments in people’s lives. Axia has since carved out a niche producing highly customised Swiss-made watches for American universities, sports organizations, government agencies and the armed services. Its clients and partners have included the College Football Playoff and Heisman Trophy, with FIFA providing the biggest international breakthrough to date. Now Kanaras is looking beyond the US, with conversations underway with major European football clubs and further opportunities with FIFA. WatchPro spoke to him about starting again at 60, breaking into Swiss watchmaking, the power of sporting fandom and turning a one-man passion project into a global business. Origin story for Axia Time WatchPro: What were you doing before starting Axia Time? John Kanaras: I was in big pharma. I was sales and marketing lead in the vaccine space, first for Merck and then for a smaller European company called Valneva. I was the US general manager for about five years. WatchPro: So this has been quite an unexpected second career? John Kanaras: Yes, it’s been an unexpected journey. I think I’m an unexpected 60-year-old entrepreneur. WatchPro: Were you always interested in watches? John Kanaras: I was. I was a watch enthusiast from an early age, and that’s really the backstory to how this whole business started. I played lacrosse at university and, in my senior year, we won the Ivy League championship and made an unexpected run to the Final Four. The university gave us a watch to commemorate that season, but for me the styling and quality of the watch didn’t measure up to the memories and meaningfulness of the moment. I literally looked for about 30 years for a watch that I felt properly celebrated that season. When I couldn’t find what I was looking for, Axia was born. I was trying to solve a problem I had personally. WatchPro: When did you start the business? John Kanaras: I started in 2018 as a passion project on the side, doing projects here and there for specific teams. It just kept growing and growing, and I left my day job in 2024 to do this full time. WatchPro: Your proposition is essentially Swiss-made commemorative watches. How do you actually get them made? John Kanaras: There has been a lot of learning over the years and the model has evolved quite a bit. The first project was for my alma mater’s lacrosse programme when we were celebrating its 100th anniversary. Everyone knew I was a watch guy, so they said, “Why don’t you design a watch to celebrate the anniversary?” For that first project, I worked with a private-label manufacturer in Switzerland. They did everything A to Z. We worked on the design together and they produced the watches. Over time, that evolved into me creating my own designs, sourcing components through an intermediary and having everything shipped to a watchmaker in Switzerland for assembly. We’ve essentially become a virtual manufacturer. We design our own cases, dials and components. We buy movements from Sellita or source ETA movements through a supplier, then everything is shipped to our watchmaker in Switzerland for assembly before coming to the US for fulfilment. WatchPro: What does the business look like today? John Kanaras: It’s growing rapidly. I don’t currently have any full-time employees, although I’m looking to hire a few people now. I have an extensive team of freelancers and agency partners that I work with, so we’re still small but growing. WatchPro: Is it predominantly direct-to-consumer? John Kanaras: Yes. Around 90% is direct-to-consumer, and then we have a few dropship relationships with notable university partners and companies that have a strong presence in the university space. WatchPro: Universities seem to be the bread and butter of the business. That must give you a very clearly defined audience. John Kanaras: Yes, and it’s authentic to why I started the brand. It anchors back to my experience as an athlete and the problem I was trying to solve personally. Through that journey I realised there was a genuine market opportunity because other people felt similarly. It isn’t uniquely American, but in the US the affinity people have for their university is on another level. We have university T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, mugs and pens. We even have university merchandise for our infants and our dogs. Where you went to school becomes part of your identity and often part of your family history because there are multi-generational dynamics at play. For us, it was about finding a way to celebrate something important to our customers with a product that is stylish, high quality, elegant and durable. WatchPro: Let’s talk about the FIFA World Cup. Watch partnerships around the World Cup have traditionally involved companies on the scale of Hublot and LVMH. How did Axia get involved? John Kanaras: Ours is different from what Hublot has done with the World Cup because we’re a licensee. We’re not the official sponsor or official timekeeper, so it’s a different category. I talk about having angels on my shoulder throughout this journey. I’ve had a lot of people supporting me, and the FIFA relationship is another example. It started with the work we did for the College Football Playoff in the US. We were its official timepiece and designed watches for all 12 teams that made the playoffs, plus a separate watch for the champions. I have a friend and mentor who is very involved in the global football ecosystem. He admired what we had done with the College Football Playoff and asked whether I had considered getting involved in global soccer. I said I had, but I didn’t really know anybody in that world. He said he knew some people at FIFA and offered to introduce me. It happened that FIFA was interested. The Hublot relationship had ended and it wanted to add licensed watches to its merchandise category. FIFA vetted us, looked at the work we had done for the College Football Playoff and carried out its own due diligence. It then came back and said, “Let’s explore this and see if we can make it work for the World Cup.” With the benefit of hindsight, I probably bit off more than I could chew. Designing all those watches inside six months and delivering them was overwhelming. It was really rewarding as well, but it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. WatchPro: And this is the first World Cup with 48 teams rather than 32. John Kanaras: We actually did only 14 team designs plus one for FIFA, so 15 in total. We didn’t have time to do all 48 and I’m not sure there would necessarily have been a market for every team. It was a learning process, and we’re now in discussions about coming back next year for the Women’s World Cup in Brazil. WatchPro: Presumably the FIFA relationship has now taken you deeper into global football. Could you start producing watches for major clubs around the world? John Kanaras: Conversations have started. There are major football clubs in Spain and the UK where we’ve begun discussions. But we’re still a small organisation, so for me a lot of this is crawl, walk, run. We want to prove there is interest and a market for something and then scale from there. We’re definitely interested in exploring football clubs. We haven’t signed any deals yet, but it’s certainly on our radar. WatchPro: There have been plenty of football and watch collaborations over the years. How do you see Axia as being different? John Kanaras: I look at it differently. I’m primarily focused on the university segment because it’s authentic to who I am and why I started the business. For me, watches are about memories and milestones. The watch is a vehicle for those memories. It’s not primarily about precision timekeeping. The quality of the components is table stakes — you have to have a good-quality product and offer value for money — but I’m trying to help people celebrate what’s important to them. Our designs are very different from most collaborations because they’re ultra-custom. That prime 12 o’clock real estate that most brands keep for themselves, I give away. I design from a position of empathy: if I were the client, what would I want? I’d want a watch that celebrates what is important to me. That starts with what occupies the valuable 12 o’clock position, then the colourways, insignia and logos throughout the watch. You won’t find my logo on many of these dials. On our university designs, for example, my logo is on the counterweight of the seconds hand. It’s very subtle because it isn’t about me. It’s about the client and the memory they want to celebrate. One thing that surprised me is that our predominant customer is often the gift giver. They’re looking for something memorable that creates a connection with somebody they love; something enduring that reminds the recipient of that relationship. WatchPro: What sort of price point are we talking about? John Kanaras: For FIFA, we created a good, better, best structure. At the entry level there was something equivalent to a Swatch at around $200. Then we had an entry-level Swiss-made automatic, and at the top was our Argos, which is our diver-inspired design at around $1,500. The Argos is by far our bestselling watch. The vast majority of the watches we sell are in the $1,000 to $2,000 range. FIFA also wanted something for children, so we created the Kosmos. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll do that again. It isn’t really who we are or why we’re designing watches. We’re creating watches for key moments in people’s lives — memories and things they want to celebrate. A children’s watch has a place, but it isn’t necessarily aligned with what the brand is about. WatchPro: So what does somebody get for $1,000 to $2,000? John Kanaras: These are proper mechanical watches. We use 316L stainless steel, DLC coatings and premium elaborate-grade ETA or Sellita movements. There’s rhodium plating, perlage finishing, a custom rotor and an exhibition caseback. Our bracelets have a proper quick-release mechanism with a pusher rather than squeeze pins, plus a micro-adjusting buckle. We use sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating, screw-down crowns and offer 300 metres of water resistance on models such as the Argos. I would say the quality rivals any other entry-level big-name Swiss brand. The finishing is really good and there’s a lot of value for money. That actually anchors back to the name of the company. Axia is a Greek word. My parents are Greek immigrants and it means “worth” or “value”. We’re trying to deliver a lot of value for money in the quality of the product, but we’re also trying to design a watch that is worthy of your memories. There’s a double meaning there. The watch I received at university wasn’t worthy of my memories, and that was my frustration. I’m trying to design watches that are worthy of people’s memories and the moments they represent. WatchPro: Does FIFA provide a platform for taking that concept global? John Kanaras: I’ve been fortunate to do deals with some of the premium names in US sport, including the Heisman Trophy and College Football Playoff. It doesn’t get much bigger than that in the college space. FIFA was a validation that what we’re doing is relevant beyond the US. It has opened us up to a global platform. We’re certainly interested in renewing with FIFA, assuming everything works out, and global football clubs could be very relevant because the depth of fandom and identity is similar to what we see with universities. But it goes beyond sport. We do a lot of designs for the armed services in the US and for government agencies. We’ve just been commissioned to produce a watch for the NSA’s 75th anniversary. These are people who have devoted their lives to government service, and for me it’s an honour to design something for somebody who has devoted so much of their life to that mission. There are many verticals where this concept can work: sports, universities, government agencies, charities and football clubs. Anywhere there is a deep sense of affiliation and pride can potentially be relevant. WatchPro: You’re still running a very lean operation. Is that sustainable as the business grows? John Kanaras: No. I have two people I’ll be hiring shortly, particularly around fulfilment. I simply can’t handle the fulfilment anymore. It has become overwhelming. We’re also looking at how we can use AI as we scale. One of the biggest surprises has been the popularity of the custom engraving we offer. On the back of our watches we have an exhibition caseback with a movement holder that is colour-matched to the client. On that movement holder we have space for up to 80 characters of engraving. While we’ve been small, it has been almost a concierge service. Customers ask me what they should engrave and we end up having a text conversation about it. I’ll lay it out in the software, take a screenshot and text it back to them. That obviously isn’t scalable. We’re now building an AI agent to help customers work out what the perfect engraving should be. We’ve also added an engraving visualiser to the website, so customers can type in their message and immediately see how it will look on the back of the watch. It takes something from being simply a nice present to being a meaningful gift. That expression from the gift giver becomes personalised and turns it into a genuinely one-of-a-kind watch. The challenge is finding ways to use technology so we can scale the business while preserving that depth of customer experience. WatchPro: Finally, how much of what you learned running a pharmaceutical business are you bringing into Axia? John Kanaras: Everything. It was a great training ground, not only from a sales and marketing perspective but, more importantly, for supply-chain management, demand planning and building flexibility into the supply chain. If you go onto our website, you’ll see lots of different Argos watches for different institutions, whether that’s the Secret Service, University of Michigan or FIFA. They’re all based around the same bracelet and case. What changes is the dial, the logo on the crown, the logo on the rotor and other details. That creates a lot of supply-chain efficiency. We have a core design that can be customised according to the needs of each client. Our SKU count might therefore be heavy on dials, but it isn’t heavy on cases and bracelets. That gives us the flexibility to create highly customised watches while still operating efficiently as we grow.

TAG Heuer And AXIA Create Watches For The New York And Philadelphia Marathons
TAG Heuer And AXIA Create Watches For The New York And Philadelphia Marathons
Read the original article in Forbes. Two watch brands have developed official timepieces for two of the East Coast’s biggest marathons taking place in November. TAG Heuer marks its second consecutive year as the Official Timekeeper of the New York City Marathon, which will be held November 1. For this year’s partnership, the Swiss watch brand introduces the Connected Calibre E5 Running Edition, which builds on TAG Heuer’s Connected Calibre E5, the fifth generation of its luxury smartwatch collection. The watch is powered by TAG Heuer OS, which tracks 54 sports and records manual laps in real time. The Running Edition is housed in a 45mm sandblasted titanium case with a polished black ceramic bezel engraved with a non-linear running scale that allows runners to quickly read their distances. A dual-band GPS provides pace and route tracking, while a PPG heart-rate sensor monitors performance. The watch comes with two straps: an ergonomic stretch strap designed for running and a rubber strap for everyday wear. The special-edition timepiece retails for approximately $2,400. To mark the 50th year of the 26.2-mile race extending across all five New York City boroughs, TAG Heuer, in partnership with New York Road Runners (NYRR), a nonprofit youth running organization, is unveiling two exclusive digital watch faces for the Connected Calibre E5. TIMEKEEPING X NYRR features a sleek, minimalist design with orange digital hour, minute and second readouts against a dark textured background, anchored by the New York City Marathon emblem. TRKR X NYRR features a data-driven dashboard designed for active pacing. It combines a prominent central digital clock with a telemetry-style layout displaying the day, date, step count, calories burned and ambient metrics in orange against a black-and-blue interface. The face also features the NYRR emblem. TAG Heuer will host weeklong and race-day integrations, including an official countdown clock at the New York City Marathon Expo and branded clocks at the start, along the course and at the finish line. The New York City Marathon, which began in 1970, now attracts more than 50,000 runners and more than two million spectators. It is considered one of the world’s most prestigious and widely followed marathon races. Meanwhile, Axia Time has unveiled the Philadelphia Marathon 2026 Enosi as the official timepiece of the Philadelphia Marathon, which will be held November 22. Created with input from runners, the 38mm stainless-steel watch is designed to reflect the style, personalization, gifting and commemorative aspects of the race for competitors and the community that supports them. The blue dial draws on the marathon’s red, white and blue identity, with the Philadelphia Marathon logo at 12 o’clock. Above the logo is “MARATHON 490BC,” a reference to the traditional story of the first marathon. An “AMERICA250” logo appears at 6 o’clock, marking the Semiquincentennial of the founding of the United States in Philadelphia. “PHILADELPHIA 2026” appears below it. The Liberty Bell is inscribed on the crown. The watch is powered by a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement. The caseback is engraved with the 26.2-mile race map and offers personalization options for a runner’s bib number, race time and name. A Greek key pattern encircles the map, connecting the watch to the Greek origins of the marathon and Axia’s heritage. The watch is completed with a 316L stainless steel bracelet and color-matched rubber strap. At the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Axia will have an installation themed “Every Second Got You Here.” Visitors can participate in a time-based challenge for prizes and recognize runners and their loved ones through a message wall titled “This Finish Is For…” The Philadelphia Marathon began with 1,500 participants in 1994 and has grown to become one of the top 10 marathons in the nation. This year’s race and two preliminary races are expected to attract nearly 37,000 participants. Axia Time, based in Warren, N.J., was founded by John Kanaras. Its watches are designed in the United States and crafted in Switzerland. The brand’s clients and partners are primarily in college sports and include the Naismith Awards, the Tewaaraton Award and the College Football Playoffs, along with custom timepieces for more than 50 universities. This year, Axia partnered with the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
